Waxing FAQs

What type of wax will you use for general body waxing?

We only use top quality Perron Rigot and Lycon waxes.
We use Perron Rigot Signature Wax, which is a hypoallergenic wax called Cristal Ocean for general body waxing. This is applied with a spatula and removed with paper strips. This method of waxing is called ‘strip waxing’ and is a great method for areas such as the back, legs, arms and parts of the chest. For sensitive areas such as the intimate area, neck/hairline, underarms, face, and often on parts of the chest we use Perron Rigot non-strip wax and Lycon.

How long will my appointment take?

Waxing treatments vary from client to client. First visits usually take longer than those for regular clients who have regular waxing treatments.
It will also take longer to wax if you are particularly hairy.
We have set guideline times as an indication of how long a wax usually takes.
We allow sufficient time for a pre-wax consultation, the waxing itself and the after-care treatment.

When will the hair grow back?

Generally, most clients will enjoy around two weeks of nice smooth soft skin after their waxing. However, clients who have been shaving on a frequent basis or those who have used hair removal creams often find it can take a few waxing sessions to obtain a smooth finish. If you decide you are going to maintain your body waxing, then you really should have this done every 5-6 weeks and the area will remain smooth and hair free for the maximum length of time. Regular waxing or maintenance waxing is easier as hair growth is much finer and a lot easier to remove.

How do I make an appointment?

By telephone, email or via our website.
Our telephone number is 01225 337912 and email address wisterialane1@gmail.com

Is there a cancellation fee?

Our Cancellation Policy is as follows: If there is a missed appointment/cancellation then a 50% surcharge will be taken if the appointment cannot be filled.

What should I do before and after to maintain my waxing?

Please arrive fresh and clean for your appointment.
Some clients who are having waxing often find that taking an anti-histamine on the day of the waxing and for a few days later really helps with any reaction, which may result and that the skin settles down really quickly. We do offer a range of retail products designed for maintaining the skin after waxing.

Do intimate waxing treatments hurt?

Yes, a little bit, but this is minimised by using the best quality non-strip waxes as well as good waxing techniques.
We will keep your skin taut and this will help in terms of the hair removal. Some clients take painkillers about 30 minutes before the treatment. Intimate waxing is much quicker and much more comfortable if it’s maintained on a regular basis.

Will men get aroused?

Don’t worry! This does occasionally happen and the key is not to worry as therapists are used to this occurring and consider it a natural event. The waxing sensation tends to subside throughout the treatment.

Will I get spots or ingrown hairs?

As with all hair removal methods how you maintain your skin afterwards will make a huge difference. We provide our clients with excellent aftercare advice.
Follow the guidelines and use the recommended products on your skin.
To prevent ingrown hairs starting a few days after your treatment gently exfoliate your skin in the shower.

Should I trim or shave my hair first?

Your waxing treatment will be more comfortable if the hair isn’t too long.
However, the hair MUST be at least half an inch in length for the waxing to be effective.
If you have had a close shave in intimate areas, or have recently used any hair removal creams, then please leave it for at least 4 weeks before you book a waxing appointment.

What happens if I arrive late for my appointment?

Please note you need to observe the times allocated for your appointment. We try our best to accommodate all clients. However, if you are late we may not be able to complete the treatment in the given time.
